What are the Difference between Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web services?
AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud differ from each other on various grounds such as availability zones, service offerings, Pricing models and many more.
To answer this question, I’ll discuss the main factors where these three cloud giants differ from each other. But before that, here’s a blog on AWS vs Azure vs Google Cloud that you can refer to, for a detailed comparative analysis between these three cloud providers.

AWS vs Azure vs Google Cloud
Coming back to the question, the following are some of the major differences between AWS, Azure, and GCP:
Availability zones:
- Currently, AWS has 66 availability zones with 12 more on the way.
- Azure has 54 regions worldwide and available in 140 countries all around the world.
- Google Cloud Platform has been made available in 20 regions around the world with 3 more on their way.
Market Shares:
- AWS is leading with around 30 per cent of public cloud share in its name.
- Microsoft Azure is in the second place, owning around 16 per cent of the worldwide market share.
- Google, in the third place, owns up to 10 per cent of the market share worldwide.
Pricing:
All these three cloud providers offer pay per use pricing but their standard pricing for every service differs. AWS recently started offering pay per minute billing. Azure already offers pay per minute billing while Google offers pay per second billing models which is, by far the most cost-effective billing model. Google also offers various discounts and exceptionally flexible pricing models.
Following table shows the pricing of similar kinds of machines in different cloud vendors.
Services:
Services:
All these cloud providers offer services in the domain of computing, Database, Storage and more.
- AWS offers over 200+ services in total
- Azure offers above 100 services
- GCP has been catching up with the above two in terms of services with over 60+ services in total.
Even though the number of services offered by Azure and GCP is less than AWS, they do offer all the core services required for any business. Following is a short comparison of the services of each cloud provider in the above-mentioned domain:
1. Compute:
2. Storage:
3. Database:
With all these differences, AWS, Azure, and GCP, all have their set of strengths and weaknesses. As depicted by the following table:
It’s up to you to weigh down all the pros and cons and decide which of the pros matter the most and which of the cons are not that adverse for you.
Hope this helps!
